My Best Travel Photos 2017 – Photo Parade For the First 6 Months

Today, I have something different for you! Michael from Entdecke die Welt invited the blogger world to participate in a photo parade to show the best travel photos of certain categories. He is doing this for the 5th time already. But for me this is the first time! And I’m really happy to be part of it! If you want to know more about the parade and understand German check out Michael’s post about it:

Fotoparade 1 2017 – Which ones were your best travel photos?

The six categories

The six categories for the best photos in the first six months of 2017 are:

  • „unusual“
  • „relaxed“
  • „distant“
  • „illuminated“
  • „old“
  • „best photo“

Choosing the photos was pretty difficult. Most of all because I wanted to select photos from places that I have written about to give you the chance to immerse yourself fully in the place through my blog post. And didn’t have the time yet to write about Petra for example, where I took fantastic photos in almost all the categories. So here are my „winners“:

#1 Category „unusual“

The huge head in the middle of the main square of Krakow is called Eros Bendato. It’s empty which is making it a famous photo spot: So jump inside and look through the eyes of the head. The head is used a lot by teenagers who want to drink in public although it’s strictly forbidden. So they simply go inside to hide and drink alcohol.

#2 Category „relaxed“

Bali itself is a place of relaxation for me. Villas with beautiful pools and even coworking spaces with this kind of oasis of peace were my highlight and the reason why I want to go back. I took this photo in the coliving space of Villa Rivendell from FreedomCo. Read more about being a digital nomad in Bali in The Canggu Guide for Digital Nomads.

#3 Category „distant“

There is something that lets me yearn for distant places: sunsets over the ocean! This year, the nicest sunset over the ocean I’ve seen on Koh Chang. I spent four days on this enchanting island and I hope that I will soon have the chance to go back. Sunsets like this one are one of the reasons why I became a nomad in the first place.

#4 Category „illuminated“

The skyline of Dubai was wonderfully illuminated when I did my photo tour. Such a photogenic city. But thanks to the size of the city it’s not easy to find good photo spots. This is why I created a blog post where I tell you about my favorite photo spots in Dubai and where exactly they are.

#5 Category „old“

I admit: The church itself is not old at all! But it’s built over Jacob’s Well – the place where Jesus has met the Samaritan woman on his way from Jerusalem to the Galilee having a theological dialogue. Around the well, they built a Greek orthodox church. This was in Palestine during my first of two tours to the Westbank – the Nablus and Jenin Tour .

#6 Category „best photo“

That really was a difficult decision! But I chose this photo that I took at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. I had to wait approximately 30 minutes until everybody was gone to take this shot. I’m a huge fan of symmetry and reflexions! What do you think?

Those were my favorite photos in the six categories. I’m already looking forward to the next parade about the second half of 2017! I’m sure I will have some nice shots from Singapore, Budapest and Bucharest that I can use…
